Three Great Hebrew Poets with Rachel Korazim
Please verify reCaptcha before submitting the form.
Join us for a series exploring Hebrew poetry with the great poetry teacher Rachel Korazim, who will join us for three Zoom sessions from Tel Aviv.
Registration for our third and final session is $15 per person.
The Zoom link will be emailed to you automatically after you have registered. Please note that if you are registering for multiple people, we will email them the link in advance of the meeting if you list their email address, but they will not receive it automatically.
Our final session will focus on
Haim Gouri: Sunday, January 19 at 10am.
Haim Gouri (1923-2018) enjoyed a long and celebrated career as a journalist, novelist and especially as a poet. Every Israeli knows Gouri's heroic lyrics like "Bab-el-Wad" and "Comradeship," in which this Palmach veteran gave voice to the 1948 generation's fight for independence and its losses.
We will explore those, as well as his ironic and critical voice, in which Gouri -- who described himself as a "civil war, half of me shooting at the rest of me" -- addressed the Jewish people, from the Bible to the Shoah to contemporary Israel.
Our first session on November 11 discussed Natan Alterman, and our second on December 15 discussed Leah Goldberg.
