The Wide Horizon of American Jewry: Jews of Color

Saturday, November 9, 2019 11 Cheshvan 5780

12:30 PM - 3:00 PMHirsch Hall

Join us for a potluck Shabbat lunch after davening to welcome Hazaan Sabrina Sojourner for a program entitled "Erased From Memory: The Strength of Being A Mixed Multitude"

Scholars and theologians often debate what is meant by gam eirev rav, often translated as mixed multitude. Hazzan Sojourner discusses the power of including our gam eirev rav, our diversity, and what we offer humanity by doing so.

Hazzan Sabrina Sojourner is the Spiritual Leader for Revitz House, a Charles E. Smith Life Communities residence, and leads services, teaches, and tells stories across the country. She especially loves creating midrash meant to be read aloud and enlarge, challenge concepts of whom we Jews have been and are.

This is a potluck meal, so we invite you to bring food according to the following schedule:

If your last name begins with A through D, please bring a salad.

If your last name begins with E through N, please bring a side dish.

If your last name begins with O through Z, please bring fruit or dessert.

Sorry, Registration has ended.
