"Dying Doesn’t Feel Like What I’m Doing" A Conversation with Paula Weiman-Kelman about her film and the Legacy of Rabbi Rachel Cowan

Sunday, April 25, 2021 13 Iyyar 5781

12:00 PM - 2:00 PM

Paula Weiman-Kelman’s moving documentary, Dying Doesn’t Feel Like What I’m Doing, celebrates the life of Rachel Cowan—a beloved rabbi and influential mindfulness teacher, who is diagnosed with terminal brain cancer. Living each day fully, she turned dying into an opportunity to experience gratitude.

Paula will join us live from Israel for a conversation about the experience of filming this intimate portrait of Cowan’s final year, and an opportunity to reflect on Rachel Cowan, who played such an important part in  sustaining Ansche Chesed.

A link to watch the documentary will be made available prior to this event for all registrants.

Paula Weiman-Kelman is veteran documentary filmmaker known for moving portraits of inspiring women. Her first film Rites of Passage was a portrait of the feisty Israeli feminist icon and peace activist Alice Shalvi. Twenty years later she revisited her subject in The Re-annotated Alice.
